Our Journey
It started at a dining hall at UMass Amherst. One co-founder had an idea combining energy harvesting with mechanical watch design, another declared he'd build an OS to turn it into a kinetic-powered smartwatch. That moment - the collision of software and hardware - became the foundation of Diel Technologies.
We pressure-tested the idea at the UMass Innovation Challenge, where judges pushed us to think beyond building a product and focus on the core innovation. That feedback sharpened our direction. The following semester, our team proved the technology could work at scale, winning first place at the UMass Technology Challenge. From there, we went lean. With faculty mentorship, we shifted to a B2B licensing model, bringing our technology to established wearable companies rather than competing against them. That plan earned us first prize at the next Innovation Challenge.

We quickly learned that established companies need more than a pitch from recent grads; they need proof. So we built a plan to do exactly that: get our technology into thousands of hands first, then into millions of devices worldwide.
